Collard Green

Popped Collard Green
Popped Collard Green entered our life by way of @sirrice, and we can't let him go.

Never one to risk a chilly breeze, Mr. Green wears not one but two pastel-colored popped collars. Forever stuck in a state of college dude, Popped Collard is always ready for a game of beer pong (a.k.a. Beirut) in his fraternity's basement.

In the past, Popped Collard Green was cute, clever, and creative. Today, he's less of these things.

P.S. Check out this cuter take on Collard Greens.

Corn

Corn has moral fiber
Things just got political at Kale Crusaders Headquarters.  Corn refuses to be liquefied and stereotyped by the media, nutrition labels, and fruit juice containers.

Corn has been camped outside all day in his favorite form-fitting t-shirt to declare his support for kernels au naturel.

Radish

Radish saves the day!
Radish is an underdog. He's the guy you call when you need a colorful last-minute salad upgrade.

But he can hold his own when the temperature heats up and the stakes are high.  Radish has super powers.

P.S. Kids, eat your radish greens!

P.P.S. The inspiration for today's comic comes from the lovely @radishpower.

Yam

Potassi-yam!
Yam or Sweet Potato? We never could tell the difference.

Yam is fun-loving, classy, and delicious. Unsurprisingly, the same goes for Sweet Potato. We're happy with them just the way they are! (Whichever they are!)

Bok Choy is your boy
Happy Valentine's Day from Bok Choy and The Kale Crusaders.

May you celebrate the day with the greens you love!

Fava

Fava Flav
To mark the recognition bestowed onto him by Kale Crusaders, Fava Flav wrote a haiku:

Ain't nobody's fool
Flav knows what time it is, son
Time to eat your beans

FAVA FLAV!

Millet

Millet - Business in the front, party in your mouth
Millet hit rock-bottom when he had to share a grain of the month party with Teff.

Luckily, Millet is a good sport. He knows when it's time to be the life of the party and when he's better off as the wallflower.

Sadly, we can't speak for the dude with the mullet. Hat tip to @sirrice.

Beet

Where's the beet?
Has your head exploded from all the 1980’s references? It took a while to find our friend Waldo Beet and his cow-friendly burger friends.

We searched far and wide for a beet food council, but our search fell flat. Google tried to help us out, but led us astray:

Chickpea

Chickpea is the fairest of them all
The Kale Crusaders are proud to announce the winner of the 2012 Miss Pulse Pageant crown.  This year's winner is none other than Chickpea from The USA Dry Pea & Lentil Council.

Curvaceous Chickpea stood out from the crowd of ellipsoid pulses during the swimsuit competition.  She blew away the judges with her interpretive dance routine of Beans, Beans, the Musical Fruit.

Chickpea attributes her success to feeling good inside and out while never depriving herself of a good meal.  Chickpea's secret to looking so good?  "I eat five meals a day: breakfast, lunch, snack, dinner, and dessert."  Congratulations, Chickpea!
