Mr. T says, "I pity the April fools"

April 1st is Mr. T's favorite day of the year.  In honor of Mr. Turnip, please consider roastingbraising, or glazing this delectable Brassica on Sunday, April 1st.

P.S. According to our sources, the Homo sapiens Mr. T stopped wearing his gold in 2005 as a sign of respect for Hurricane Katrina victims.

Nutritional Yeast

Nooch. It's What's For Dinner
Take a lesson from Simon: Don't be shy, give nooch a try.  Nutritional yeast is a delicious addition to your breakfast, lunch, dinner, or holiday meal.

Check out Cadry's rumination on nutritional yeast's awkward name.

She's a super leek, super leek
Leek is a complex woman—Rick James even wrote a song about her.  Intimidating at first sight, Ms. Leek reveals her tender and sweet personality once you get to know her a little bit.  Generally timid in the spotlight, Leek performs best in duets and collaborations.

Emotional Cabbage
For the first half of March, Cabbage was the golden child of the food echo chamber. He could get into the most exclusive clubs, and swam daily in colcannon and corned beef and cabbage.

Then it all came crashing down. After St. Patrick's Day, Mr. Cabbage was thrown to the curb in favor of Easter candy and early spring produce. To add insult to injury, the New York Times reported that "green cabbage is not one of the sexier seasonal vegetables."

It's time for Cabbage to lift his head up, get out of the fetal position, and look to other cultures for full-time appreciation.

P.S. Hat tip to Kale Crusader A.J. for nominating Cabbage.

Navy Bean

Navy - The Other White Bean
Navy Bean is the quiet hero. Mr. Bean is easily lost in a sea of white bean options, such as cannellini and giant beans. Still, a casual observer should not be fooled. Navy Bean is a Renaissance bean, capable of transforming into delicious dips, soups, cutletsgravies, and desserts!

Don't forget Navy Bean's cousins: red, pink, green, black, yellow, and speckled—collect them all!

Beach Plum
In Eastern Massachusetts, born and raised. On the Cape is where Beach Plum spent most of her days...

Rooted in New England, Beach Plum studies Biology at MIT. Now a junior, Ms. Plum is going wild for spring break by traveling to Costa Rica to "research the local flora, fauna, and flesh."

Hopefully she preserves some dignity amidst the hot co-eds and endless fruity drinks.

Peach Bum
SPRING BREAK!!!  Kale Crusaders headquarters does not shut down for spring break, but we decided to celebrate in spirit and go wild with some non-seasonal fruit.

ember Peach: Party hard, stay cool, and wear sunscreen.

P.S. Anthropomorphising stone fruit is difficult. To make life easier, Peach is covered by a strategically placed gossip magazine.

The Notorious F.I.G.

Not to be trumped by a punk like Fava Flav, The Notorious F.I.G. shared his own haiku:

Notorious Fig
Says mo' newtons, mo' problems
Now that is my jam

Thank you, Figgy, er, Mr. The Notorious F.I.G.!
